Sjoerd van Tuinen

Sjoerd van Tuinen is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy. He teaches French Philosophy, Aesthetics, and various MA modules.

His research interests are in speculative philosophy, aesthetics and social and political theory. He has authored Sloterdijk. Binnenstebuiten denken (Kampen: Klement, 2004) and edited several books, including Deleuze Compendium (Amsterdam: Boom, 2009), Die Vermessung des Ungeheuren. Philosophie nach Peter Sloterdijk (Muenchen: Fink, 2009), Deleuze and The Fold. A Critical Reader (Basingstoke: Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and De nieuwe Franse filosofie. Denkers en thema's voor de 21e eeuw (Amsterdam: Boom, 2011). Van Tuinen is currently preparing a book in which he proposes a speculative (as opposed to (art) historical) concept of mannerism as early avant-garde in art and philosophy.
